Ghost tip for newsletter sites: look at a single post the way someone arriving from a forwarded email sees it. For most new readers that page is your homepage. Readable, one clear signup at the end. Everything else is secondary.

i think many of the 'old' questions are still evergreen - how easy is it to adapt (abstractions, build times, …) - perf (can i get the perf i need from the stack) but at the same time it is now easier to embrace some languages, runtimes, frameworks that would have been 'risky' in the past because of hiring so in a sense I think many things that used to matter for good reasons still matter many things that arguably never were 'good reasons' are not holding up as well

check your opencode installs how? supply chain attack?
We had a security breach last night related to a large scale distillation attack that impacted 1.4% of OpenCode Console users We have notified them all this morning via email. If you did not get an email you were not impacted, it was a subset of users who had external providers linked The incident is ongoing so we cannot share more details at this point but we are working with Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google to remediate

Absolutely. Smaller dependencies are better than ever, and I stand by that most vulnerabilities come from upgrading, not stagnating.

We see youβ€”and your agentsβ€”building on Stripe data. Now you can sync your Stripe data to Postgres in real time. No code, no webhooks to maintain, and free to get started. Hello, real-time data. Show us what you build πŸ‘€ stripe.com/blog/real-time-st…

I had a similar reaction. Everyone should applaud performance improvements, but gauge against the β€œspeed of light”, not just a sloppy competitor. If you are measuring in seconds, you may have already anchored yourself incorrectly. Structure the UI so you can put locally cached media up just a few vblanks after the process launches. Structure the server so it can return everything necessary for the dynamic UI in one single query that was kicked off in parallel with the Gfx API initialization, branching to a modern transport protocol for large media files. You should be able to double click on the launcher and have it responsive before your muscle memory can slam the pointer to a location to click on.
This is hilarious and awesome. Awesome because this has annoyed millions of peoples for years. Hilarious because WHY DOES IT TAKE 5 SECONDS TO SHOW A MENU OF GAMES?! Steam takes 10 SECONDS?! Do you realize how much time that is for a CPU with a modern internet connection? Am I crazy!? What am I missing?

inference is a fancy way of saying "using" a model (the computation that happens where the input + model weights produce an output)
