I don’t think I can put into words how amazing it felt creating this piece. It genuinely felt like a dopamine boost. I still look at it every day, and whenever I stare at a particular component, I remember the day I came up with the concept, all the trial and error, and all the work that went into getting it right. There’s something really satisfying about seeing an idea that existed only in your head slowly become something real. Creating art is fun.

Happy weekend chat I kinda started sketching again, both in my sketchbook and p5js …. New concepts come to mind, I gotta test them out. Usually too shy to share works in progress on X, but I guess I have to battle with it this week. How do I make a NotAnArtist piece come to life physically, like with all the motion and all …. It’s been on my mind all week.

NotAnArtist launches tomorrow. The Bike Chain launches tomorrow. If you had to give the NotAnArtist collection a nickname, what would it be? Someone under my comment called it “Bike Chain” and I find it catchy hahah. I’ll be giving 1 Gtd spot to the nickname I find most interesting in the next 12 hrs.

I just realized this project has crossed 5,000 lines of code. I know that’s probably a baby step to some people, but it made me smile. Some days I only add one or two lines and call it a day. Today, for example, I added just these cvs. style(‘box-shadow’, ‘0 0 5px rgba(0, 0, 0, 1)’); cvs. style(‘border-radius’, ‘10px’); Just so the canvas looks a little better inside OpenSea’s square iframe. Funny enough, every time I use box-shadow, I never really know the right values, I just keep changing the numbers for as long as it takes until it feels right. Most of this codebase has come together the same way slow, manual trial and error. This codebase started at around 100 lines. Now it’s over 5,000. Consistency stacks up.

Imagine staring at how a thing works for so long that it starts processing in your head. You don’t have the materials to experiment with it or bring it to life, so your understanding can only go so far. Then, almost without realizing it, you find yourself on a canvas, putting two and three together, trying to see if what has been living in your head can exist visually. And at some point, you stop. You look at it. And you say to yourself, This is beautiful.

Introducing NotAnArtist by Ifxscript Supply: 456 Chain: Ethereum Launchpad: OpenSea Results aren’t random. They’re the product of motion.. and motion is engineered. It begins with simple rules, individual components, and small interactions. On their own, they seem insignificant. Together, they form systems. The systems create motion. Motion produces outcomes. What appears complex is simply many simple parts working together. Once the system is built, it runs on its own, producing outcomes. At what point does engineering end and art begin?

Once in a while, I find myself coming back to stare at this piece. I’m still amazed by how it came to life. I just needed to escape my own mind, so I opened VS Code and started mocking up old snippets I’d written. Then, out of nowhere… this layout appeared. I wasn’t even thinking about making a collection at the time. I was just creating. Looking back, I realize this wasn’t just another experiment. It was a piece of me.

So many still see math as science, and that's why they find it hard. But what if I told you math is art in its most psychotic form? Let's make a piece. Start with a circle. (A=pi r^2). Pi is constant. Change (r), and the circle grows or shrinks. Now give it a home. The center is (c_x,c_y). A single circle isn't interesting, so let's create 80. For the (i)th circle, [theta={2pi * I}/{80}] Now every circle has its own angle. Its position becomes [x=c_x+Rcos(theta)] [y=c_y+Rsin(theta)] Now let's animate them. Replace the radius with time. [R(t)=200+40sin(t+theta)] Every circle now breathes, but because each one has a different angle, they don't all breathe together. Let's turn the ring into a wave. [y=y+60sin(5theta+t)] Now make the circles smaller the farther they are from the center. [ r_i=frac{20}{1+d}] where (d) is the distance from the center. Or make them explode outward. [R(t)=R_0+vt] Or spiral forever.[R=a+theta] Now every new circle is slightly farther from the last. We only described relationships. The artwork isn't the circles. The artwork is the equations that decided where every circle should exist, how large it should become, when it should move, and how it should relate to every other circle. People think math is for solving problems. I think math is beautiful

I never knew how to draw. I used to envy people who could. What fascinated me instead were patterns, numbers, and calculation. I just didn’t know they could become art. I still remember being asked, “What’s your talent?” Truth is, I still don’t know how to answer that. What I did know was that I loved patterns, logic, and calculation. Before Ordinals, I never imagined code could become art. I couldn’t even program. Then I discovered early generative art on Bitcoin especially the collections from @vivid_ordinals Gallery. I was never really into PFPs, but @OnChainMonkey fascinated me because of its technical achievements. So I challenged myself. What’s a better way to learn than by building something? That’s how GWGBot started, and eventually evolved into @p5pepte . Creating P5Pete was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done. My friends looked at it and bluntly called it ugly. Maybe they were right. But I’ve realized something, when you genuinely love making something, you keep creating anyway. You don’t stop because a few people don’t understand it. You let the work exist, and you let everyone else decide what it means. Maybe that’s all art has ever been.
