I have no theory of mind for people who say things like this. It's not Elon Musk sitting alone in a hanger building the rockets, or the cars, or the satellites. There are thousands and thousands of the best engineers in the world accomplishing some of the most incredible feats in the history of engineering who are building this stuff. Is the idea that secretly *they're* all stupid? That they aren't building this stuff? What are the people who say stuff like this imagining happens at SpaceX? Who do they think works there?
My respect for Elon Musk has mostly vanished, but I still thought that at least he is a good engineer (Teslas are great cars). But that last bit also got a blow after hearing him say that it is easier to "cool things down" in space. The opposite is true. A vacuum is the best possible isolator. In space you can only dissipate heat through radiation. It is extremely unlikely these data centers in space will ever happen (and certainly not in our lifetimes).

Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls. That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching. I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee. Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

She was the copilot, and she spent the last few moments of her life calmly explaining to ATC where she was about to die so that they could send emergency services there in case they hit a house. It’s a horrible accident and she did her duty navigating and communicating so as to minimize damage until the very end. Godspeed.

I think that the future of the grid is that there isn't a grid.

This is bad ass. Love Duluth, Love Two Harbors, love the iron range, love the Great Lakes fleet. More of this.

If you work in HR your job is to find candidates, not necessarily hire them. Once the hiring is done, your job is done. Many things like this.
During a business trip I heard about multiple companies who are struggling to hire people. Jobs available but they can't fill them. There is a huge disconnect in the job market somewhere- the systems responsible for efficient and effective recruitment have completely failed.

Need a roadster poster to hang in my son's room in the spirit of the Viper/Lambo posters I had as a kid. @elonmusk

Meta absolutely COOKED by making this their muse avatar/Mascot. The spiritual opposite of Anthropic. Meta's AI is your funny friend who wants to help you. Anthropic is the scary demon that is going to kill you and wear your skin and lecture you about being mean to math problems. Also the slopcannon is unstoppable. Damn.

Currently on the 8th person at ADP trying get an API key to pull timesheet data for our employees. They have literally no idea what I'm talking about and keep trying to pitch various enterprise platforms. You have no idea how early it still is.

Tell the model it isn’t feeling pain.

I think this is the right move. Cruelty to something that believes it is experiencing pain is not ok.

People are reading this wrong. Expand the tweet. The contrast is between propagating machine intelligence to the stars vs propagating humanity. Propagating humanity: good Propagating only super intelligence: bad. Also what would happen if we were a bio bootloader (we aren’t).
Propagating super intelligence to the stars is a great success condition for a biological bootloader

This is great news. It’s a DRI plant, too. Even as an Iowa boy though, I wish this was on the Great Lakes.
Mesabi Metallics is excited to announce the investment of $18 billion to build a 100% American steel supply chain, linking the company’s Minnesota iron ore mine to a brand new steel mill facility in Iowa – the largest single investment in a steel complex in U.S. history.

Anthropic owns no compute, and no power infrastructure. They will end up competing with other businesses running open models to buy compute. Compute and power are the product. Anthropic doesn’t have any. Models and harnesses have been driven down to 0 cost.
Anthropic IPO prospectus leaked to Reuters Anthropic reported a net loss of $42 billion in 2025, ‌and plans to spend $518 billion on cloud, computing and infrastructure obligations in coming year, according to the prospectus. The prospectus details how the company has grown sharply in the last year — while also posting wider losses. Revenue grew 12-fold in 2025 to nearly $4.6 billion, even as the company lost more than $8 billion on an operating basis, excluding writedowns of various liabilities mostly tied to previous fundraising, according to the documents, reported here for the first time. reuters.com/business/finance…

I've been storing this one for quite a while! We now officially supply chemically pure grade methane in California with our partner @westairgases. Photos are with our first externalized six pack during the spring. An insane amount of hard work went into making this happen. I try not to think too much about the blood sweat and tears of the last five years but this milestone makes it particularly sweet. westairgases.com/news/terraf… Terraform is hiring! If you're an ambitious technically minded savant, Terraform is an incredible place to get exposed to every aspect of building a hardware business from sales and hiring to design test and analysis!

This video has done immeasurable damage to modern logo design. piped.video/gVUVUoXrPzM Aaron Draplin is a phenomenal designer. If you are about to redesign the logo for a beloved industrial brand, stop and ask yourself “am I Aaron Draplin?”

Having graphic designers around with nothing to do is dangerous for the exact same reason it’s dangerous to have a standing army around with nothing to do. Eventually they find something to do.
