⚠️ WEST MIDLANDS — Arjun Nijjar "of Sutton Coldfield" has been jailed for 8 years and 6 months after killing pedestrian Douglas Draper while driving his Mercedes C63 AMG at approximately 83mph in a 30mph zone. Nijjar, 23, who was also driving under the influence of alcohol, struck Mr Draper as he crossed Thornhill Road in Streetly on 16 August 2025. He initially claimed he had been driving at 30mph, but investigators established he was travelling at approximately 83mph before the collision. Nijjar pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving. He was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court on 13 October 2026 and disqualified from driving for 5 years.
